Ethically Conscious Hospitality

JULY 2019

Research is highlighting a growing demand, particularly amongst 16-25 year olds for businesses to show they are responsibly sourcing. No longer just on their menus and products, but in every facet of the business extending into their environments too.

Recognising shifting consumer demands, in January 2019 Hilton launched its first vegan suite at London Bankside, considering the entire journey from check in to check out. Their example shows the aesthetics of ethical interiors has reached a stage with material innovation that high quality finishes can be achieved without compromise, even for a 5* hotel brand. The customer asked, they listened and delivered.

The scheme features plant based check-in cards, vegan-friendly bedding, pineapple fibre faux leather bamboo fibre based carpet. The mini bar and room service menu are vegan from ethical suppliers, along with vegan toiletries and cleaning products.

The scheme also integrates some biophilia for a calming stay with artwork from a local embroiderer on the headboard, and planting.
